Hi everyone . I just got a 143 cv mazda 5 , and i'm living next from bordeaux (france).
I was looking for a system to plug in my radio , and here what i've found: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/971?osCsid=17fc7001eda48e74d9c5e68e11
and http://www.therpmstore.com/index.php?cPath=26_42&osCsid=2757ec8d9b081eea273e2b82c7c2eac4
and finally http://www.sylfex.com/products/AuxMod/
i was wondering if some of you know those systems?are they compatible with our sanyo radio?
thanks a lot.:)

Hi there!

The two first links look like the same product. Sounds cool that you would be able to connect any player that has an USB connector and control it as well. Can that really work?

I have an 4G iPod and use a Dension ice>Link. Currently there are some compability issues with the steering wheel/headunit controls and my iPod, but changing songs works as it should. I wouldn't recommend it before Mazda5 is in their list of officially supported vehicles.

Auxmod (basic) gives you a 3.5mm connector that allows you to hook up any audio source you like. If you can live with using the player controls, that's the way to go.

Hi all another european logging in from the UK this time

Does anyone know if the Connector that these 2 products are using is a standard ISO connector. The AUX MOD one appears to be smaller than the one in the first 2 links.

The One in the 1st 2 links looks like a standard ISO connector for a CD changer which makes me wonder if it would work with the newer steroes on the Mazda 5 which AUX mod Implies is a proprietary port.

Also does anyone have a link which would show the safest way to remove the stereo? Found it :)

sorry for being a bit dim but the photo you have linked...is that the back of the mazda stereo?

I have the in dash 6 CD changer but no Mini DIsc or Sat NAv so i should have one of those as a spare port on the back i hope.

If that is the case then that connector is a standard stereo connector and makes the possibility for addditions an lot more interesting.

OK, I'll try and clarify.. if someone else has better knowledge then please correct the following or fill in the gaps :)

The linked picture shows the "external" connector on the back of the head unit, where you would connect a sat radio, an external cd changer or something else external & interesting.

A minidisc or cassette player connects to an "internal" connector, which is the same that auxmod uses. If you don't have a minidisc or cassette player, that connector is free.

I'm yet to rip my headunit to tiny bits and pieces, so the following is based on some educated guessing: all dash-mounted cd player variants (the plain-vanilla one cd type, the 6 cd changer and the mp3 playing one) use one and same "internal" connector, which is separate from the one that the minidisc/cassette player uses. Regardless of what kind of "cd module" you have, the external port in the back will be available.
