Can you help me? My brand new 05 Mazda6i (2.4L) transmission was great when I just bought it but after only a month I noticed that more often than not it doesn't shift smoothly between 1st and 2nd. Some online research has led me to believe it's quite common for a rough shift until the transmission fluid reaches an ideal temperature but this problem persistents no matter how long i've been driving.
Research has led me to believe the thud I hear between those gears is known as "shift shock" and has plauged older Models for some time and supposedly was fixed for the 2005 model. Unfortunately, it doesn't do this all the time especially when I've taken it to the dealer and test driven the car with them.
I haven't been able to find anyone else reporting problems online and the two times I've taken it to the dealer they tell me they can't recreate the problem so there's nothing to fix. I'd like to think the thud i hear is all in my head but passengers have also noticed the thud and brought it to my attention.
Isn't there anyone else out there with this problem? It's not severe but it bugs me that my brand new car is flawed. Maybe the dealer does know what the problem is but since it's not severe they don't want to open a can or worms by admitting to a defect. I'm sure this transmission is in many mazda vehicles including the Mazda3. If you know something or have or have not noticed a problem please help by posting a reply.
I'm honestly thinking about taking the car to a outside transmission specialist for an independent opinion but that's going to cost me more time and money.
Much appreciated. -D
