2012 Mazda5 Sport AT
I'd like to add LED DRL to my 2012 Mazda5 Sport utilizing the existing fog light cutouts. I've included some mock-up photos of ideas I've had for this along with links to a couple different LED products that I find attractive. Has anyone else out there done this themselves? If so, can you post a photo for us and tell us how you wired the lights to be "always on" and function as DRL? I've seen some other products on this forum that use LED DRL (https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)) but they assume the car already has fog lights, which mine doesn't. Thanks!

I like both of your concepts... but I honestly don't like DRLs on my cars. Makes you more visible to law enforcement. :D

Wire your DRLs through a relay to one of your ignition switched power lines so they're always on.

I'm more interested in making my car unique than anything else, but I do wish the Mazda5 had DRL. I had them on my two previous vehicles and was surprised when the Mazdas didn't. I personally like the concept of the individual circular LEDs best since I think it looks cooler and more stealthy but I think this will be more challenging to install. The nice thing about those individual LEDs is that I could get them in a number of different colors, like aqua or yellow!

Get rainbow color changing LEDs and arrange them in a circle so they go round and round while you're driving. :D

Hi, thanks for the link. I've seen these types of fog light bezel with the integrated LED DRL but, as I said, I have a Mazda5 Sport which, here in the US, does not have fog lights. I'm not necessarily interested in installing fog lights, just using the existing space to make a unique LED DRL setup to set my Mazda5 apart.

These have the best OEM type look as they come as a complete integrated replacement for the plastic fog light housing http://www.thespeedline.us/servlet/the-440/11-pls--Mazda5-LED-DRL/Detail

Wow. I wasn't expecting to like that, but... I did. Not that I would ever put that on any of my cars. Cool display nonetheless, and not a bad price for it either!

That's pretty nice!

And Mark, there should be a factory bezel to replace the blank spot in your bumper and leave room for OEM fogs.
