Looking at this laptop for school next year. Going to the local Technical College for IT-Network Specialist, so I'll be running VMware (virtual machines) a lot, doing a lot of surfing the net, using Office 2007, watching movies, downloading music + torrents, some light programming also. Get free upgrade to Windows 7 as well. Anybody have any experience with this laptop? This should be good, right?

i think it's a good thing you have the big battery with all of the stuff that is in there. you could probably get away with less horsepower to save a few bucks. i'm looking mostly at the graphics card and memory. also a wireless N card might not be worth it unless you have an N router. seems like a solid computer just maybe a bit of overkill for what you'll use it for. do they offer an LED backlit screen? be sure to check dealnews.com and gotapex.com before you buy anything to look for coupon codes or other deals

as a note i prefer laptops to not be mobile desktops so small, light and good battery life are what i value. heavy horsepower stuff i like to keep on the desktop.

ive never been a fan of HP laptops :/ hit up a dell XPS since alienware develops the XPS line now :)
