Every year, the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona invites you to participate in the "Annual Route 66 Fun Run." First held in 1988, the Fun Run has attracted people from all over the U.S. and many foreign countries.

The three-day event, held the first weekend of May begins in Seligman and travels 140 miles to Topock/Golden Shores. The event is open to all street legal vehicles--Buses, bikes, RV's or roadsters, station wagons or Shelbys -- "Anything with wheels that runs in 2008!"

As in the past, we will start the festivities in Seligman on Friday with registration, music, entertainment, and checking out the sights of Seligman.

Saturday morning the vehicles will start to line up in preparation for the start of the FUN RUN to Kingman. Since this is not a timed event please feel free to stop along the way to enjoy refreshments, western dance, sample the Hualapai Tribe BBQ and check out the other vehicles as they cruise by.

Upon arrival in Kingman sometime in the afternoon we will be lining up the vehicles (not only cars but busses, vans, cycles and RVs) on Route 66 and at the Powerhouse for viewing and fun judging. Entertainment, activities and vendors all day. Evening activities, downtown Kingman activities and entertainment sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association.

Sunday morning the vehicles will line up for the run to Topock/Golden Shores for the final get-together and awards. Again, not a timed run so there is plenty of time to stop along the way with Oatman being a fun place. We promise to have each and every burro in the neighborhood on the hoof to meet and greet our FUN RUNNERS.

As we get closer to the event more and more activities will be added to make this year's run even more special - 2008 Fun Run Registration Form.

This is a fun run. (No pun intended)

We've done this run twice in our old 66 Mustang, Once in our old 1980 Jeep, once in our 1992 Dodge Dakota and once in our Protege5.

This year we are taking the 1950 for sure and possibly the Protege again if we get enough Mazdas to join in in this run.

There were over 900 cars registered in the show and over 100 tag-alongs. You name it, it was there. We started in Seligman, Az., went to Kingman the first day. Stayed the night there and headed off to Topock/Golden Shores, Az. down by Needles Ca. the next day for the awards ceremony. We stopped at every little town on the 66 route. Shopped at every gift shop. There were hot rodders, classics, exotics, motorcycles, horseless carriages, muscle cars, and much much more, everywhere we stopped. We were in car heaven. We put on 500 miles of cruising on this trip and it was well worth it. The only problem we ran into was my 1950 Chevy Pickup sprung a leak in the radiator down in Topock. We had to limp it back to Kingman and put a temporary JB weld on it to get back home safely, which we did.

The show cars consumed two streets, 4 blocks long with cars being parked down the center line as well.

The 300 belongs to my Dad who drove 4 to 5 hours from Yuma, Az to do this run.

This was at Cool Springs (refurbished after the CARS movie made Radiator Springs). It is just a few miles from Oatman on 66.
