2012 Mazda5 (2.5L MZR L5-VE) engine cover insulation

Cross-posting this in other forums for vehicles with the same engine.

The insulation mat on the underside of the engine cover for our 2012 Mazda5 is coming apart, leaving particles all over the engine including around the oil filler and dipstick. Makes me nervous whenever I check/change the oil. I want to replace the insulation mat, but apparently new engine covers (PN LF96-10-2F0C) don't come with it and I can't find it on any parts diagrams. I see used covers on eBay that include the insulation, but they seem to be coming apart as well.

Anyone know where to find this part brand new, or have any thoughts on a good substitute?

You can either buy the cover new which will come with new material (it is all one assembly) or you can rip that stuff out and throw it away (it's not needed) or you can buy fireproof insulation and probably reattach it like the old stuff:

Thanks for the product suggestion.

Mentioned in the OP that new covers don't seem to come with the mat after all. Found that out the hard way. Ordered one brand new and just got the plastic – no insulation.

Gotcha. Surprising.

I'd just buy some material then. Maybe they don't put it on any longer because it all disintegrated on the shelf.
