As with all new BMWs, a wonderful car wrapped in hideous sheet metal. This one is not as bad as the new 7 or 5, but that front end is pure Pontiac. What a shame.

I don't know, but from the side, it really looks like a camry solara, and a camry solara is ugly.

If you look at the taillamps they look Porsche to me. I think the new Solara is far more uglier then the 645ci.

WOW!! You guys are all certainly entitled to your oppinions but... this car is awesome!!! The new BMW designs have received a lot of bad press... it's ashame really. A designer goes out of their way to be unique and set a trend and people bash him for it. I for one think their cars (from the 3 to the 7) are awesome inside and out! (with the 5 being the best of the lot! - including this one) the X5 is awful!! I'm not even gonna get started on that POS.
While it'st true the front does look a bit too pontiacish... realize it holds true to BMW's signature grille (a grille that has been around longer than pontiac's copycat POS grille) Bottom line: this is a BMW!!! I mean... come on!!! anyone who says they wouldn't LOVE to own this car is lying to themselves!! If you haven't driven a beemer... go put on your best duds and visit a dealership. Your view of what a car SHOULD drive like will change forever. |

Well said Chico2003!!! I really like the X5 and the new 5 series. Yes I get to drive 3 different BMWs all the time. A 01 M5,a 540i Sport with the 6spd , and a 00 M Roadster. BMWs are the brenchmarket manufacturer that the rest measure up too.

I've driven a lot of BMWs. In fact I worked for a BMW dealership for 2 years. They are fantastic cars, no doubt. They have always made great designs, inside and out. Classis, clean, strong lines.
THAT is why the new era of BMW design is such a shame. It seems like they are just doing random things to be different, not because it looks good or serves a design goal. If you think being different for the sake of being different is a good thing, I offer you the Pontiac Aztek. I remember when the M Coupe came out, and a reviewer said "The beauty is from the driver's seat". Sadly that's the case for all the BMW cars now, and that's not the way it was or should be. |

If you cut that little trunk part of of the 6 series then the profile looks a lot like a 911.
