2004 eclipse doesn't handle well

allright i am driving my protege and this 2004 eclipse gt(i think its the gt... 6cy anyway) he slows down when he see's my car(i had no clue who it was because he just bought the car 3 days ago)
so now i know it is him and he pulls in front of me(25 mph speedzone) well we get to the redlight at the end of the street and both turn left(into a 2 lane road) i keep left and he goes for the right lane....... so he is still infront of me and he cut into my lane to make a 15 mph s turn...... then lets it go wide on the exit but then his whole car slides sideways nails the curb, i thought they were going to hit the light pole but he brought it back onto the road.
now the point of this story, i handled the turn perfectly at 40 and have handled it faster before! but so has he just not with this car....... now my question.......... does the 2004 eclipse really suck at handeling??????
we think he could have hit a batch of black ice
but......hehe
i beat a 6cy eclipse ............... i know my friend knows how to drive and he wasn't drunk!!!!
just to let you know he broke the front axle in half and snapped the rear stabalizer bar also.......
i just figured i would share my story and i am now trying to find video(we have a webcam on that street in our town)

00-04 Eclipses do not handle well especially GT and GTS models. I would think he hit black ice like you said. The GT wouldn't do that with a good driver. The steering feels died compared to other sport compacts I've droven. I traded in a 01 Lipse GT in for the 03 P5. I liked the car but everyone has a Lipse. Also the Lipse is based on the last gen Galant and with the V6 its nose heavy. The 2 only things it has over the only Protege is power and resale value.

I agree. I had a 01 GT prior to my MSP. Funny thing is that everyone thought my car was fast and handled good, so no one dared race me. Funny shit.

Though I have beaten a few Ludes and assloads of Civic Si, not that that says much.

Mitsubishi has flooded the market with Eclipses in NH that they have no resale value what so ever in that state. We traded ours in in ME because the Mazda dealer wanted it so badly and gave us almost 18gs for it. A lot of peeps think the GTs are fast so they leave them alone. I've raced a few with my SE-R.
