Your mission is to design a car audio system for $1000 or less. The car to design for is a Standard 2003 Protege ES sedan. You can use any prices so long as they can be found with a facotry warrenty. Hence, only authorized vendors, no EBAY :bs:.

Install labor is not part of the $1000, however accessories are. Wire harness, adapters, RCAs, power wire, even wood must be acounted for.

The system can include what ever you think will make for the best sound overall. You are going for DB and SQ.

I think this will go along way to answer the, "Whats the best questions".

To recap:

1) The car is a 2003 Protege ES sedan
2) The goal is the best SQ and DB system.
3) Any equipment can be used.
4) List equipment and prices
5) No Ebay, only authorized vendors that prices can be checked.
6) $1000 budget
7) Accessories and materials have to be accounted for

OK, have at it!(wiggle)

No, I am not giving anyone money :p

You can use anything you want!
Headunit, speakers, subs, whatever. Chosing what to keep and what to replace is part of the game :D

I should probably add which car its has to be for.
I think we will pick a standard 2003 protege ES sedan.

use one of those with a mmats 300HC
We need prices in there aswell. So your idea is to add one sub and sub amp only?

ooohh...this should be interesting!

Oh. Do the prices have to include shipping costs? These do!

Of coarse. Shipping, or atleast an estimate has to be included. Basicly all the costs to get the system up and working. If the vendor has free shipping then its all good (thumb)

Nice, I assume the wood is for the sub box.
Are the speakers for the front and 6.5" components?
What is the power of those amps?

Is the zeb an autorized US acoustics dealer?

The wood is for the box. Sealed or Vented, it is up to the consumer...my suggestion would be the vented for the added SPL since it would be in the trunk. The CDT Components ar 6.5" Woofer/Tweeter. The Woofer in stock front doors and the tweeter in door nearby. The Zeb is an authorized vendor for the products listed and power for the amps is listed as:
USX600D - 375x1@2ohmRMS@12.9V
USX2100 - 100x2@4ohmRMS@12.9V
The CDTs are rated at 90Wrms

I would not worry about rear speakers at this time.

FINISHED TOTAL: $996.90

Evertything but the headunit has free shipping too.

In case you're wondering....
Subs - justwoofers.com
Speakers - justcarspeakers.com
Amps - justamps.com
HU - Crutchfield

All authoriezed vendors with factory warrenties

I still like Rider's set up. Good stuff, a single sub, but a good ported enclosure will make up and the sub has a high xmax, more money for fronts when using fronts only, and amps are decent, and knuconceptz has quality wires for a lot less than any where else (because it is all they sell). I'll do a little research and come up with some thing when I have a little more time.

Alright

Stock Head unit (prevent theft, kinda deterant)

Amps
US accoustic USD2100 100x2 @4, speaker inputs, RCA outputs

That leave approx $140 for misc expenses.

Heres what I came up with. I really like this idea got me rethinking my set up. All prices came from onlinecarstereo.com, there is Free shipping on all right now. Enjoy.

Headunit
- JVC KDSX780 (129)
Runnnig total 129

I didn't price out the wiring kits or other wires/RCAs need. I would nickel and dime it at Radio Shack. But with 105 left over This should be no problem. Also I can't believe prices now. I paid about 1200 through some friends and my signature tells you what I have.
