Post RSX owners point of view

I recently purchased an Artic Blue Type S and I have to say that it is pretty wicked. The interior is really amazing compared to the last generation Integra. It includes leather, climate control, heated seats and mirrors, 6 CD in dash, self fading roof lights, and so much more. Oh yes it also has a sun roof !!

I like the new body, it is more futuristic, but the sweetist part of the car is under the hood. 200 hp & 142 torque produced by an intelligent vtec engine (i-vtec). When VTEC kicks in its bye bye Protege. Actually even before VTEC kicks in.

Don't get mad Protege lovers, in all reality I think the MP3 is a great car, especially for it's price. The color and body styling are amazing and not to mention the stereo. The mags look awesome as long as long as you do not scratch them, right enry ?

My only complaint on the MP3 as so many of you have mentioned is the engine. I heard they may upgrade it next year. One Canadian car magazine said it does 0-60 in 8.9 secs, that's rough !! Well the regular Protege does it in 10 secs, so I guess that's an improvement. The other problem lies in the fact that the engine is already tweeked by "Racing Beat", so how much more power can you get out of it without going turbo or NOS. Plus the limited production run will deter (??) companies from making performance parts.

I still love your MP3s though, it should be able to rip civic SIs and maybe if you are lucky even non-vtec Integras. But for sure it is definitely an eye and ear catcher !!

In terms of speed and power the RSX and MP3 don't compare i agree but for the price difference ( i think its 8k canadian but i may be wrong?? ) I could put a 170hp FS-ZE engine w/NOS or a Turbo. I considered getting an RSX at a time ( but was too expensive ) but when i first saw it in real at the Montreal autoshow i was really disapointed. Tough i hated the mags even tough they had put 17" ( ithink ) on it so it didn't help. I think the TypeS now looks way better than back when i saw it ( the blue RSX ) at the Montreal Auto Show. ( even tough its probably the same car almost )

Btw Sports Compact Car made the 0-60 in 8.3 with a brand new ( almost no km ) MP3... The 1/4 mile was 16.5 ... Maybe with a broken in car ( when they tested the civic SIR after it had 5000 km in they made much better 1/4 mile times ) so we can maybe hope for a 15.9 1/4 mile (stock)?
It also said the Mp3 did 69 mph in the slalom which beat the Integra Type-R when they made the same test. I'm not saying the MP3 handles better ( probably ) but its sure fun to make those fast lane changes.

Congrats on the car btw! Did you get any extra accesories on it? I saw a grey TypeS yesterday exiting the Acura dealer in laval and it had a little ( very minimal but nice ) front / back underbody kit + a spoiler. It looked sweet! I think those are offered by Acura? i know that if you build your car on their web site there are alot checkboxes with options you can choose!

Cool

I do agree that the new RSX has much better interior than the Integra, which look so cheap and plastic everywhere. I don't know what's the performance like for the TypeS, since I have never drove one, but I could definitly tell that it is way faster than my Protege. I also agree that the protege is slow as hell, from 0-60(100km), which I am very upset. But just like the civic, we could drop in a better engine(people drop in GSR or TypeR engine into a civic, and so do the protege has the FS-ZE!!!!). Plus since the MP3 is build on top of the Protege ES2.0, we still going to have alot of aftermarket support, and this is no doubt. But with only $24000 in CAD compare to $31000(exclude options), don't expect too much.

One thing I don't like about new TypeS is the Style. Which in my opinion is ugly, nor the TypeS. I did seen one already mod RSX on the street few days ago, look much better with Rear and side skirt. I think you should consider that .

congrats on the car. i used ot own a black type-s, and loved it.

i'm not sure i'd put the MP3 and RSX-S in the same category, though...the MSP is a fairer comparison, and i'm sure tritonheat will be along shortly to throw all kinds of "intArweb drag racing numbers" at you proving that the MSP is fastAr.

my suggestion is to spend money on upgrading the tires first, and quick.
