Sliding doors won't stay open?!?!

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, neither one of my 08 M5 sliding doors will lock open, they will slide back and fourth witout locking in the full open position until you pull the handle.

Mine is a 2006 GT.. and should not be different than yours.

The sliding door slides freely until it hits either end.

There is a spring loaded latch that catches a slot when it reaches
the far end of the door travel. Holding it in place. The door handle
has a cable that pulls this tiny latch free, and door can slide freely
for closing.

I took some pics. the white stuff is grease.

below is when it has latched itself holding the door open. Until you pull on the handle to release it.




The latch mechanism (the one that has white grease) pivots in an axis..
maybe it is stuck. make sure you can move it by hand..
if not it may just need lubrication.
