So, the opportunity came up, and the money was right, so I picked up two nearly-identical red NA's this week.
They've got a bunch of silly stickers on them, and I'd pull 'em off, but my two year old likes them so I guess they'll stay.
We had a nice day today, so we arranged to meet up with the local Mini and Lotus clubs, and went out.
First we needed gas, so we made a stop, ran across the street and took a picture from the top of a hill:
We met up with the other clubs at the park, and climbed the water tower to get this group shot:
Here's a couple from in the parking lot:
Then we rolled out. The Lotus guys had to head out to a wine and cheese thing, but the Mini guys wanted to go run around. The rest of these pictures were taken by Jeff, the guy with the sweet white Mini.
We found an empty one-way road, and I decided to take a run at the guy in the new red MINI. Fortunately, it wasn't a Cooper S, or he'd have owned me! Here we are about to go, with Jeff sitting behind my wife, ready to follow us down the road:
I got a good run on him, and was pulling further ahead:
...but unfortunately, the cops got us! Jeff hung back and took pictures, my wife passed by and gave me a nasty look.
Ok, so clearly I'm full of it! Anyway, I was kind of excited to find that they did make Mia and Tia toys for the Cars movie. I also wondered if they were actually licensed from Mazda, which they clearly are, as they say "Mazda MX-5 Miata on the bottom:
Completely identical, other than the "Mia" and "Tia" License plates.
Clearly I'm a dork, sorry if you feel I've wasted your time, but I thought it was fun! Also, I'm kind of happy to see actual MIATA toys!
