Noisy climate control

I have just noticed an annoying noise coming from the climate control system. It is an electrical motor noise and you can hear that at the one and two fan speed setting coming from the passenger side.

Doee anyone have the same problem as mine? The weather is pretty cold in my area lately (20 to 30F) so I wonder whether it is weather related. However, the noise does not go away even if I had driven the car for a long time.

I removed the glove box and cabin air filter last night. I have isolated the sound coming from the cabin fan motor. Does anyone have problem with their fan motor? I have searched the older thread and found people with the regular 6 having problems with the fan motor but only after 2 or 3 years of operation. My car is only 7 months old so I am surprised to see such problem so early.

That's what warranties are for.

My Protege5 fan motor makes interesting rattling noises in cold weather. It goes away once the car warms up. I had the dealership look at it when it was still under warranty and they wouldn't replace it. Even if they did replace it, the new one would do the same thing eventually.

But if it really bothers you, take it to the dealership. You may have to find a cold day and tough it out w/o using heat on your way to the dealership but if they can duplicate the sound on the spot, your chances are better for getting a new motor.

I had the same thing. took mine in, tested and replaced under warranty. however... it seems to be doing it again. Unless it becomes worse... I figure, just screw it...
