Racing Seats

My seats are finally coming apart from the bottom up. You know what that means. (glare)

My three choices:

Corbeau A4's
Corbeau CR1's
Sparco Torino 2's

What I need to figure out is if the wide versions of the Corbeau seats will fit. They are only 2 inches wider. I want the microsuede material for grip. Here are the specs:

The A4 is extra aggressive in the kidney area and will fit up to a 36" waist. The Wide version (BLACK ONLY) will fit up to 40" waist.

The CR1's are as follows:

The CR1 is extra aggressive in the kidney area and will fit up to a 36" waist. The Wide version (IN ALL COLORS) will fit up to 40" waist.

Here are the measurements for both Corbeau seats:

Another thing I will have to do is relocate some of my electronics under the seats. (nervous)

Anyone have any input on what fits, and what doesn't. Measurements?

How big are you? I've got a 36" waist and the Torino fits very well. Hips are snug, lots of room in the shoulders and snug in the kidney areas.

EDIT: if you do go for the Torino, Sparco makes adapters, universal sliders and brackets that fits the protege/mp3. You won't be able to fit anything under the seats though. Also, the seatbelt thing will be a very tight fit between the seat and the center "armrest" area. The brackets are height adjustable which is cool. It's got 3 positions, but it's meant for a "set it and forget it" type of deal.

According to Sparco's size chart http://www.sparcousa.com/resourceFiles/26.pdf

the shoulders are 22 inches wide. You might cut it very close w/ the CR1. Depends on your driving position. Got a pic of your driving position?
According to the sheet on the Torinos, the witdh (denoted by "A")is 19.25 inches which is wider than the Corbeau regular-width seats that are at 18.5 inches. The wide version of the Corbeau seats have a width of 20.5. That's only 1/2 inch more on both sides! It also looks like the Corbeau wide version seats are also about half inch wider at the shoulder on each side. They may just fit. So you have Torinos in your car? Do they rub on the sides?

For those of you who are curious, here are some pictures (courtesy of PDHAudio83) of the Corbeau A4's next to the stock seats (brackets and all):

I don't see anything for the Mazda Protege... (scratch)

I figure they have to exist because I know quite a few folks with Sparcos in the Protege. Have the details?

Thank you for your interests in Sparco USA. We offer a base for the '99+
Protg, part numbers: 5002044 (driver side) and 5002045 (pass. side).
These bases should work in your car. The seats however do not come with
harnesses. You would have to buy those separately. Check this link to find the
dealer nearest you as we do not offer direct sales here at the corporate office,
http://www.sparcousa.com/distributor.asp.
Thank you, Sparco USA.
