I have a ractive fireball style exhaust welded on cut the stock one off and welded on. Nice and deep tone not ricey at all. Get custom pipe bent and a shop and put a tip on it. I have the exhaust that i has on my sedan $for sale for the right price. I custom bent an pipe and welded it to the stock axle-back, so it bolts on. I bought a used stock exhaust and bolted it back on the car, since i getting rid of the car. If your interested drop me a line. Here is a picture of it.

so your ractive exhaust is for sale, and i would be able to bolt it right up, or would i need the custom midpide? also, using this, i can leave the stock cat as is? how much?

You just bolt it up. It bolts at the end of the stock mid pipe and use the stock hanging locations. Yes you can leave the stock cat as it is. The exhaust is an axle back. Make me a reasonable offer, i dont really know what to ask for it.

Yeah a universal exhaust welded to rear of the axle-back. Borla make a cat back (kinda ricey sound to me) and so does sr motorsports. Corksport also has a full system, but it gets rid of the cat. The exhaust system from a 01+ sedan should also work too, but not 100% sure, seens a few on ebay. They are usually 300 min.

I highly suggest going to an exhaust shop and have them mandrel bend you a custom cat back and weld on a universal exhaust. Might be cheaper. get nothing bigger then 2.25" piping unless your FI if not you'll lose some power. But with a full system you're not going to really gonna get mass amount of power, you only gain a few ponies somewhere between 5-9hp.

I have the Mazdaspeed Sport Axle-Back on my 1.6L 1999 Protege and I love it. I was worried when I first got it cause people on here said that it sounded loud and bad. But after having it on for almost 2 months now, I gotta say that I love it. It isn't loud at all and just gives a nice low grumble when you want to give it some gas. They say that it is made by Bosal. I am very impressed with this exhaust, and it looks great if you have the Mazdaspeed rear lip.

That is a good price, but the one for the P5 is too short for the Protege.

I'm pretty sure that a Mazdaspeed Muffler would bolt right up.

Here is the muffler that I have (note this dude is asking way to much for it):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-M...QQcmdZViewItem

This is the one that is made for the Protege and not the P5. Notice that the Protege sedan one has a longer tip on it. I think that this muffler was just an aftermarket accessory that Mazda made for the 1999-2003 models of the Protege.

yes, a mazdaspeed axle back will fit. They are made by Racing beat. They look better if you have the rear lip to match it.

Its brand new. Thats the price they charge at the dealer. At my dealer, they want $185 for that same muffler
