Will the shifter w/linkage from a 99 mazda 626 work on a 01 protege. Or what other cars use the same setup. By the way this is the stick shift im referring to.

I wouldn't think so, two completely different cars. It's possible though.

The linkage from any 8th gen 2.0 Protege should work.

Well the linkages are rusted, but still work. Was thinking might aswell change them out before the just snap on me.

All of the fs and kl cars have very similar setups. Not all are interchangeable between each one, and the lengths and angles may vary. Now I'm not totally sure on this, but my guess is that they are probably the same. I'd measure the lengths on yours and the 626's. If the lengths are the same, then there is an overwhelming Possibility that they are identicle.
