Question about Shocks - pressure mean anything?

Hi, curious about something. I just replaced the oem rear shocks with new KYBs. The old shocks have a lot more resistance to slow compression than the new ones. I've looked for info on the web but can't find anything. The shocks have 93k on them. I guess it's good that they still have pressure - but not sure why the new ones have less pressure. I understand that the nitrogen in the shocks is to keep bubbles from forming in the shock fluid, I guess the KYBs require less pressure? Anyway, it seems that the new shocks are working ok. Anyone have any insight?
