Normally, if you called my 5 a minivan, I'd argue.

Yesterday, at the local car wash, the cashier pointed toward my car and said
"It's minivan day! You get $3 off any service."

I was happy somebody called it a minivan this one particular time. I even sprang for the 'supreme' wash....

Why? What's wrong with calling it a minivan. It actually fits the description better than the conventional minivans.

It's just insecurity over a word...who cares what people think of the word minivan.

As mentioned, it is a "Micro Van".

Just picked up a 2010 Mazda5 GS with the 5 speed manual and comfort group. This replaced a loaded 2006 Mazda3 Sport GT. We love the extra room and the higher seating position. Miss the heated leather seats but all in all a great car to drive. Sport wagon is what I would call it. MS

micro-van, mini van... sort of the same idea.

sport-van is also good (although a bit more power in the next redesign would be nice).

I have been on many forums, in many countries, in many languages...

From what I have read so far, this would be the perfect definition:

The Mazda5 is a
"sporty whatchamacallit"

I just thought of something... If EVER one simple description is loved by everyone, unanimously accepted by everyone, I will stick it on my M5. Especially if it can be used in both English and French (I'm from Quebec, Canada).

I was thinking of finding (or making) a cool zoom-zoom type "baby on board" type of sticker for my Mazda5 whatchamacallit. I have access to the machines for making lettering vinyl for vehicles.

It is a minivan killer. Most especially nowadays that we are seeing the '5' advertised on TV.

I'll favor 'microvan' or 'micro-mini'. I don't like 'wagon' because that denots a sedan w/ a hatch; the short nose of the 5 doesn't look very sedan-ish.
maybe 'sportbox'.

We call it the mini-minivan. But I believe it is actually categorized as a wagon which I think explains why there is no factory rear window tint available like on SUV's and reg.size minivans and vans. I think there is some fed DOT code or something that allows it on suv's and vans but not cars from the factory, I could be completely wrong but if someone knows more feel free to let me and everyone else know.

IDK, because my VUE has the 2nd and 3rd windows tinted from the factory and it is called a 'wagon' by my ins co.
