Hey guys (and gals). For those of you in the Baltimore/Washington Area, the closing of the 75/80 Drag-a-way was a sad day. The historic track had been around for over 50 years and the land had been sold to a developer.
Well finally a piece of good news to come out of a bad economy: The developer has backed out!!
The track is now under new management and has been getting renovations done to it to bring it up to snuff. The track is all-new, the stands are rebuilt and the racing is set to commence on Friday, April 3rd, 2009. I am going on the 3rd since the track is only 1.5 from my house and I grew up with the sounds of power coming through my window on summer nights.
What I am proposing is an area meet to show off our cars and enjoy a day (or night) of good clean racing! On Friday and Saturday nights, the strip is limited to 1/8th of a mile runs, to increase turnaround times and decrease the time the track is tied up in the event of a blowup or crash. On SUNDAYS the track is opened up to the full 1/4 mile.
So, that said, lets aim to meet on SUNDAY April 5th, 2009 at NOON for a MAZDAS247.COM 75/80 TEST AND TUNE
All are welcome, including spouses and children!
Please plan on parking your Mazda on the Pit Side so we can all be together at the track. Food and drinks are also sold at the track, so bring some extra cash.
In the case of bad weather, the meet will be scheduled for the following Sunday April 12th, 2009
If you have any questions (or I've missed anything) feel free to PM me or call me at 301.788.1986

Zoom-Zoom!
I've made a google map to let you all know where we're meeting and where the track is.
Please know that we are meeting at NOON near the BP GAS STATION up the street from the track. There you can check tire pressures (if you are running) and we can all roll into the track together. That way we can piss off the Rednecks with our "rice" collectively!
