I'am going to be installing the wagner header when I get it but I want to buy new bolts and nuts since mine are rusted to s***. So does anyone know the sizes? Also what are the sizes for the ones for the stock exhaust manifold that bolt on to the stock pre-cat?

All the Factory Service Manual has is torque specs: 14-16 ft-lbs for the flange to head, 28-38 ft-lbs for the pre-cat nuts. I'll do some digging too - I'd want new studs and nuts.

Dave, have you heard anything about when they are shipping the headers? I know they have to be fabricated yet............As far as the bolts/studs, I was thinking maybe I'd replace mine with ARPs if I can find them locally.....

Seth, I went on www.protegeclub.com and got on the wagner group buy for the headers since fkmp5 informed me that it was going on over there, here is the thread-http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=294644#post294644 I was going to buy them from nick directly but I figured the group buy would be a quicker way.

Now about the studs? how are they? are they sticking out or bolted in. My cousin said that they are hard as hell to replace on his car because you need a special tool or something and that it sucks if you break a stud off. I'am not sure how they are on the P5?? Anyone also know the size for the bolts and nuts I want to replace as much as the stock hardware as I can since it's really rusted to s*** and want everything brand new since I'am getting a new header.

Subghetto - I installed my Wagner shorty yesterday.

- All the studs (head and pre-cat) are M8 x 1.25 pitch x 40 mm (or so)
- There are two studs in the head for the exhaust manifold; the rest are hex head cap screws (bolts).
- The five in the pre-cat are difficult as hell w/o a torch or stud extractor to remove. I left mine but have eventual plans to replace them.

I used M8 x 1.25 x 48 mm (1.75") long studs to replace the two in the head. I need to return my "kit" to Tony at AWR to get shorter 12-point cap screws and longer studs because the ones provided bottomed out on the head and couldn't tighten them properly.

I ended up buying ARP-400-8013 stud kit from Summit last week and used two of them to replace the OEM ones in the head to header.

See this PDF on ARP's site for more info: http://www.arp-fasteners.com/media/pdf_files/SC_54-58.pdf on the studs and http://www.arp-bolts.com/media/pdf_files/arp2004nu_prods.pdf for the cap screws (see the items under "M8") on page 6 - kit 771-1005 (M8 x 1.25 x 40mm - 12 point cap screws - stainless steel) should work good.
