I totally forgot to post this when it happened, but a little bit ago I had my spark plugs changed and I noticed that there was some ticking which was reported to be the valves opening and closing. Is there a valve cleaner I should try, or is it more involved where the head would need to come off?

MZR engines are noisy to begin with from the AL/AL construction. Don't worry about valve noise.

Mine has made valvetrain noise since the day I bought it. That's just how they are.

Yup, the valvetrain sounds like a typewriter normally.

Mines always sounded like that. Not a problem, though it can be a bit annoying at times.

+1, my 2006 Mazda3 had some valve noise too. Just the way the MZR series is.

Yeah they sound like weak little tractor motors. Normal.
