Having problems with Importing contacts from phone into car

Hi everyone. I can not get the car ti import my cell phone contacts. He keeps saying unable to...error not known. It doesnt even tell me last number called or missed calls..it just says LOADING.........then goes off. ANyone else experiencing this?? Am I doing something wrong? Ive unpaired and tried everything I can think of.

I have 2015 Mazda 3 sport

I have the 2015 with the tech package (Bose, Sirius) and do not have that problem. I have an Apple 5s cell phone.

Check for your list of contacts with:
1. special character in the name (such as $ or #, etc.)

My problem is a little different but along those lines. My Android phone will pair with my car and I'm able to make and receive calls, see my contacts, get call info, and notification of incoming text. The problem is I can't seem to download the text messages from my phone. When I first got the car it was able to retrieve the text messages and I was either able to read them on the screen when the car isn't moving or have it read out to me if the was was moving. Now when I get notification of a message it can't retrieve them.
