Hey guys,
I've been searching round the internet for a while now and nothing has really answered this question. I am looking at tossing a turbo onto my 1.8L DOHC N/A engine on my 99 Mazda Protege ES. Now, the model I have is automatic transmission, and being only a four speed it isn't that great. I then looked into the later models (01-03) and saw that they offer the automatic trans with a tiptrionic option, which should work perfectly with a turbo, I'd imagine. Is it possible to do a straight swap of the transmissions, due to them being the same platform? And would it be more cost-effective/more bang for my buck to go with the auto tiptrionic, or a full blown manual tranny swap?
