2015 shifting sequence

Never had a problem with my 2008 CX9 GT and never paid attention to how it shifted. It was always smooth as butter. With my 2015 CX9 GT I notice that when I gently coast down to zero, the shifter indicator shows three then one. It never shows 2nd gear. It goes from 20mph to 5mph then to zero but never shows 2.

Why is that?

Pretty sure my 07 does the same. I think it only shifts into second on acceleration. No point in doing an extra shift if you are coming to a stop.

My 2013 does that too, not uncommon, just in comparison with my manual transmissions we never shifted down through the gears at a stop.

Overall the transmission programming on the CX-9 is pretty great.

I've noticed mine does the same as well. Seems it's more of a digital delay.
