Possible to swap MT with AT?

I found a 2002 P5 at a good price on Crigslist with 122k miles but it needs the transmission replaced. Its has a manual transmission, but all I have to replace it with is an automatic transmission. I think I have all of the parts needed to complete this from a 2003 Protege LX sedan including:

-Complete wiring harness intended for AT
-Transmission with new filter and torque converter
-CV axles fitting the AT side and hub side spline count (no ABS needed)
-Shift lever cable
-Shift lever and mechanism
-Parking lock cable
-Sheet metal stock to weld over the MT shift lever hole
-I have new ATF fluid available
-I would need to buy a radiator with the ATF heat exchanger built in but the yard should have one ($50).

I have an ECM from the LX protege but it has been programmed to use 15" wheels rather than 16" wheels. Does anyone know if the P5 manual transmission ECM is the same as the automatic transmission ECM? Does the automatic transmission even talk to the ECM? Also does anyone know what will happen to the cruise control function? Is the level of work required to do this swap excessive? I could buy a manual transmission for $350 and a new clutch for $105 but that seems steep considering that the junkyard sells them for $120.
