Got my hands on some sexy Hydra Motorsport Gauge rings and decided to do a How-To install.
There are other ways to get these on, but this will also help if you need to remove the cluster in order to repair the cluster or swap out the incandescent bulbs for LED ones.
TOOLS: (1) phillips screw driver
1. First thing is first, drop the steering wheel down to its lowest position.
2. Remove the cluster hood.
Remove the 2 screws securing the hood. They are positions on the top part of the hood.
Pull hood from bottom by holding the bottom part and pulling towards you.
3. Remove cluster
Remove 3 screws securing cluster to dash.
Pull the cluster towards you using the silver tab
**!!Put a cloth down on the steering column cover to avoid scratching the clear cluster cover!!**
be careful with the wiring harnesses.
Unplug the three wiring harnesses from the cluster
4. Remove the Clear cluster cover.
Move to a clean working area and remove the screw holding the metal plate.
Push in all the clear tabs in order to release the cover. This can be tricky at first but be patient.
5. Install Hydra Motorsports gauge rings
Press-fit the rings into the cluster. Hydra Motorsports gauge rings do not require glue.
*other brands might require adhesive dots or tape.
6. Re-install the gauge cluster and hood.
Here are some pics:
Hope this helps.
