The picture has a ton of processing done to it. So it could have been either originally really. But it looks like the same gunmetal gray color my CX9 is.

versus what I have seen in the past (Copper Red Mica 2012 CX-9)

what the heck is Clear Water Blue Mica 2014 CX-9 ? haven't seen that yet

The color in the photo looks like Meteor Gray Mica.

I bought my 2012 CX-9 Grand Touring in November 2012 after the mildly redesigned 2013 model had been available for a few months. There were quite a few 2012 models left and Mazda was offering big incentives trying to move them. My 2012 CX-9 GT FWD with Moonroof/Bose/Sirius Package stickered for $38,385 and I got it for $29,207 plus sales tax!

Every dealer within 250 miles of me had at least five (some had as many as 15) of the 2012 CX-9s left. But as I started checking out each dealers inventory, I realized that at least 60% were Crystal White Pearl Mica, about 20% were Copper Red Mica and the rest were mostly Black (or oddly equipped). The Internet Sales Manager where Ive bought it told me that they had the hardest time moving the Copper Red. It is a very polarizing color- you either love it or hate it.and the vast majority of CX-9 buyers hated it! Replacing the Copper Red with Zeal Red was as big improvement, in my opinion and (according to my buddy at the dealership) the Zeal Red is selling at a rate of 4-to-1 compared to the Copper Red.

I originally planned to get my 2012 in Liquid Silver or Dolphin Gray with Black Leather. But I couldnt find a single one in those colors with the Moonroof/Bose Package in FWD. I ended up with Crystal White Pearl Mica with Sand Leather. I hadnt even considered that color initially, but for $9k off sticker I learned to like it! =)

Heres a quick rundown of color changes on the CX-9 from 2012 to the current 2015 model year-

2012
Copper Red Mica
Liquid Silver
Crystal White Pearl Mica
Dolphin Gray Mica
Stormy Blue Mica
Brilliant Black Clearcoat

2013
Zeal Red Mica replaced Copper Red Mica
Stormy Blue Mica dropped (Dark Blue)
Meteor Gray Mica added (Dark Charcoal Gray)

2014
Dolphin Gray Mica dropped (Medium Gray with Green tint)
Blue Reflex Mica added (Medium Blue with a hint of Gray)

2015
Titanium Flash Mica added (a muted Bronze variation)
Note- with the addition of this 7[SUP]th[/SUP] color option, this is the first time that the CX-9 has had more than six color choices since the 2008 model year!

You mentioned something about Clear Water Blue Mica- Ive never heard of it.is it supposed to be a CX-9 color? Where did you hear about it? The only thing I could think of is Deep Crystal Blue Mica that is available on the Mazda3, Mazda3 and CX-5. Its almost an Indigo Blue and a very beautiful, rich color.

The somewhat similar color called Blue Reflex Mica was introduced on the 2014 CX-9 (as well as the 2014 Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda6) and that might have caused the confusion? GTCarlot is an awesome resource but once in a while I do find an error in their info.

mine is the Meteor Gray Mica.
thanks for the clarification on the Clear Water Blue Mica vs Blue Reflex Mica.
I saw the Blue Reflex Mica on the road yesterday, it's a real nice color.
black is nice too if you're okay with the upkeep and constant cleaning.

sidenote:
IMHO, they really, really messed up the new tail lights, looks horrible,
these two drooping bulbous design elements for the red incandescent lights just looks plain ugly,
previous LED simple clean straight across design looked better

Meteor Gray. I had advertizement brochure for 2013 CX-9 with absolutely same picture in there and color on this CX-9 GT "photo model" underneath picture was denoted as Meteor Gray (Mica).

I have the opposite feelings on the tails. Id love to have the LED option, but even for that upgrade, i wouldnt swap to the older style. I much prefer the newer tails external look. Just really wish they had factory LED's in them also.

+1. I wouldn't. I like newer tail lights' smoke accent. Looks solid and balanced on my Meteor Gray. My GT already has chrome accent (including rear bumper SS guard). Adding old style chrome-ish/LED-ish tail lights would make it looks too much. Just my opinion.
