Gear shift light replacement

Does anyone know the procedure for changing the light responsible for illuminating the gears directly next to the gear shift lever?

I've easily snapped out the circular panel that surrounds the lever so I can expose the light. The light itself is in a recessed area, and I'm not sure exactly how to remove it. Do I simply pull it straight out from its receptacle? The space the light is in is small, so I think I'll have to use tweezers, or even needle nose pliers.

Additionally, does anyone know exactly which light I need to purchase as a replacement?

If im not mistaken they are LED's and they have a color-cover (made from rubber i think) i have to replace mine this weekend, ill post some pics maybe a vid..

Any updates on this bulb replacement? I have the same problem.
