2003 Mazda Protege ES
Hi everyone. Thought I should introduce myself. I have a 2003 Protege ES which is paid off and currently sitting forlornly in my driveway. I am not a mechanic but I have always had a knack for figuring things out and necessity is dictating I need to fix her myself. She needs an alternator belt replacement. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

You must take the power steering belt off first to get to it. There are adjustment screws to where you can loosen the power steering pump to push it in and the belt Will come off. The alternator is the same way. Loosen the adjuster bolt and the side bolt that holds the alternator up top and you can swing it in towards the engine. The whole process takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
