Repainting Soul Red Metallic after an accident

Hi

I searched but did not find anything about repainting the Soul Red Metallic after an accident, should one be involved in one. After reading this,http://www.mazda-news.eu/2013/03/13/about-the-soul-red-metallic-color/ , it seems as though there is a special process to apply the paint. I am wondering what happens if you need a large section repainted at a body shop or a dealer, can it be made to match?

I think this can be summed up in two words "Good luck!" Mazda's traditional mica colors are hard enough to get a good match on. I can only imagine how much more difficult this stuff will be. Better have a damn good body/paint man in your back pocket!

Agreed. I used to do paint repair. You will never, ever, match this perfectly. Mica paints are a multi step process with a tinted clear coat and if any one of the stages is slightly off, the repair will stick out like a sore thumb. Plan on repainting the entire side of whatever the affected area is, or going to one of those paintless dent repair shops if it's just a door ding or something small where the paint isn't damaged..
