JDM_Pro5's Build Thread

Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well. From what i was told by my local parts store, i can't buy that ball joint separately. Although it looks like it presses in, they sell the control arm/ball joint as a complete assembly

I bought my ball joints from rockauto :) If I had to do it again I'd just buy the hardrace arms though. wasn't a fun experience haha

Working on this for the past month+

Dropped her off for paint, waited forever, got her back and let her cure for a week. Installed last night. Although I left the gas door at the paint shop so they could paint to match, it's a bit darker. Going to perform witchcraft on my old paint to restore some luster and hopefully get the old paint a bit closer to the new. s204 lip will be installed after I finish cleaning it and paint it satin black.

Temporarily on stock 16's while I paint the MS3's. Going to remove the Vintage Gold plastidip, then paint them the same gold color.

A few quick updates. MS3 wheels have been painted Champagne Mist and will be installed soon. A new exhaust was added since the baffles in the old tip were rattling. A slightly larger tip was purchased and was installed closer to the bumper to prevent tripping hazards ;). s204 lip is painted and ready for install.

Ran into some issues Wednesday night. I was on the way to Advance Auto with a friend to pick up some polish and wax. My clutch started acting up on the way, losing pressure and having trouble shifting. I ended up coasting into the parking lot as my clutch pedal hit the floor (good timing right?). Once under the hood, we saw that the hose going to the slave cylinder was leaking. Although the store didn't have a replacement part listed under my car, I found a part in the store that worked. Once the hose was replaced, it was time to bleed the slave cylinder. This didn't work too well seeing as the bleeder screw sheared off the slave cylinder when we tightened it down. At this point, it was dark outside and my wife showed up so I left her. I took the next day off work and got back at it in the morning. I decided buying a new slave cylinder was the best option, however, no one local had it. It's $30 online, and $55 dealer direct. Dealer direct would still take 4 days and I didn't have that time. I took the slave cylinder off, got the sheared screw out with an easy-out, replace the screw, re installed, bled it, and was good to go!

Finally got around to doing some compound buffing and waxing. Car looks pretty good. I painted my aerocatch hoodpins satin black since they were fading. Wheels should go on this week.

Started on the turbo journey last night. Pulled my front end for fmic installation. Ended up plasma cutting my front crash bar since it was in bad shape and fabbing up a new, stronger crash guard. Cut and welded to match the radius of the original guard. I should weld in the new bar tonight and fab some brackets for fmic installation. Next will be the plumbing process. I'll keep you posted

Installed all new KYB struts and MOOG '01 Ford Escape front endlinks for the swaybar. These endlinks are so beefy and have greasable pivots. Definitely worth the $17 each

So, after four months my National brand Wheel bearings have failed...hurray. I'm about to order some Timken bearings in addition to a new shifter bushing. Yay RockAuto. I hate having to go through this whole labor process again because of faulty parts.

Started swapping my Timken wheel bearings. Fighting with Advance Auto to get my money back. Also ordered and installed replacement driver's side MSP Fog Delete.
