CX-9 Phone Book

Grand Poobah
I just bought a CX-9--picked it up today.

I programed my wife's "dumb" phone (Motorola RAZR) to the BlueTooth. It won't transfer the phone book--it says that the phone doesn't support that function. I can't figure out how to manually enter phone numbers--the manual only has an entry on the phone book transfer.

Can this be? I can't manually put in phone numbers???

I believe you can only enter numbers to the Hands-free phonebook via voice commands.

Did you check out Mazda's compatability search?

It may just be easier to upgrade to a new phone.

No--my wife's RAZR pairs, but it can't upload the phone book. I had the same problem when the RAZR was mine with my Lexus Bluetooth system, but the Lexus lets you manually enter phone numbers to store. I can't believe that I can't do that on the Mazda--it seems ridiculous. And--if I was to upload my phone book from my iPhone, I have 2600 contacts--mostly work numbers. I wouldn't want that in the car. I tried uploading the phone book from my wife's Blackberry (which also is mostly work numbers), but then I couldn't figure out how to delete the numbers that don't apply while in the car.

Crazy!

So I called Mazda--you CANNOT manually input numbers, other than by voice commands (REALLY?! You can manually add voice numbers, but not on the nav screen???).

So I did a work around--I added my wife's key phone numbers as contacts to her Hotmail account, added her Hotmail account to my iPhone, temporarily deleted my 2600 contacts from my iPhone, THEN transferred her phone book to the CX-9. What a PITA!
