Thanks guys, today I got these in the mail from H&R; they gave me like 2 degrees of negative camber, good for now until I get Coilovers one day :

Well Back to getting serious about the STF project.

After participating in my first Autocross event with my 2, I can say I'm very pleased with it, even though I did very well, there is a lot of room for improvement.

I did some research, used different tires/wheels combinations:

- 15x8 Kosei K4R's wheels with 80% used 225/45-15 Hankook RS3's

6717701593_92b02bec31_z.jpg

- 15x9 UL wheels with 70% used 225/45-15 Hankook RS3's

- 15x8 UL wheels with 70 % used 195/50-15 Toyos R1R's

Toyos were the fastest, I think part of it was the below 70 degrees temps ( Toyo's love cold temperatures)
Second place for the 15x9 and the 15x8 came third.

The car doesn't have a lot of torque starting 2nd gear but recuperates once goes above 4000rpms. I removed the muffler, it seems to help a little bit (at least in my head).

I killed the outside of the tires (what ever was left) , I need more front camber and rear if possible.

So after the event I came home, reviewed Andy Hollis' post then did some research and make some calls (I was "bad") , sold both my aftermarket sets of wheels, ordered a set of 15x7.5 UL wheels, ordered a set of Toyos R1Rs 195/50-15, and got on the phone with the guys at KSport and ordered their coilovers kit, they will work with me developing the best set up for our beloved 2's.

Hopefully I get to have the coilovers installed before sunday's event.

And the Quest begins...(headbang)

So, you ran several sets of 225 width tires and did not report any rubbing, is your car lowered at all? It looks pretty close to stock ride height.

Do you know what the wheel offsets were for wheels?

Just wondering since I am hunting for wheel/tire combos. I am completely stock now but I plan to lower the car at some point soon.

Thanks for updating the posts, helpful info!

No rubbing, I have the H&R springs, it doesn't look to low because the gap between the tire and the fender looks large due to the tires being very worn.

These UL wheels have a +36 offset, the Kosei's are +35 offset.

What are you planning for your car, looks, or competition?

Ok, yea sorry, I missed the comment about your springs in the earlier post!

Well, primarily I will upgrade for performance. Since it will be a daily driver I will want the car to look good also. But if there is a question of looks or performance, I will always choose performance...

Got the coilovers installed saturday, dropped about 1.5" lower than the previous H&R Springs height:

On 15x8 UL and 225-45-15's :

On their way:

RB rear bar
15x7.5 UL wheels Nickel + 195-50-15 R1R's
15x7.5 UL wheels Bronze + 225-45-15 RS3's

In the future:

CorkSport catback
Lightweight battery
Lightweight seats (Kirkey already have them from the Spyder)
Custom CAI

looks like you mean business ...like it....if I didnt live in crappy ohio Id ride that low...post some in car vids when you get rolling.

Wow, that is quite the difference... What height setting are the coil-overs at? The range of adjustment looks fairly wide but I did not see any specifics in the specs I looked at.

I have them close to the lowest possible, I think this one looks lower than mine, either or he has larger tires. He is selling the same set I have (I think)

Nice project.I think you're too low at the front.Try to set the ride height at the point tha the front A-arms are level to the ground.
Then you can play with your front spring preload and rear ride height in order to achieve the handling balance between the two axles that you like.
Looking forward for more info of your project!!

PS:What brake setup do you have?

Thanks,

You're right I was waiting for the coils to settle down and the wheels to get in to make final adjustments and alignment ( this morning).

Very interested in a review on the coilovers. Any pics of them or info where you got them?
