sorry this is a rather dumb question...but for some reason, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fold the 2nd row of seats to make it flat like the 3rd row. is there a video someone can point me to, or can i be explained to me?

wasn't that clear to me in the owner's guide how to do it. thanks!

I have to pull the headrests off my seats to get them totally flat, otherwise just like Heat's pics

You can fold the rear seats flat on a 2012 Mazda5 WITHOUT removing the rear headrests, by just rotating them forward 90 degrees. You do this by pulling on the tabbed loop on the back of the rear headrests and pushing the top of the headrest forward. Here's my 2012 with the seats flat and the headrests still in place, albeit rotated forward. In the second photo you can see the tabs sticking up.

As an aside, I like to rotate the rear headrests forward (down) all the time when no one is occupying the rear seats, as it significantly improves rear visibility.

The 06-10 you just push the headrests all the way down.

The 12+ the headrests automatically fold forward. I love the 12+ design.

How are they automatic? As you fold the back down, the headrests are folding also?
