Yup I was also a victim of zoom zoom BOOM, well almost. Started to get this horrible click down in the engine after the wastegate actuator failed. Took it down to the nearest Mazda dealer and they quoted me a referb engine at like $7000. So this is my build that I started on July 1st 2011. The engine was brought to the machine shop on Jul 6th 2011, and picked up Sep 15th 2011. Turns out the old engine had a bent connecting rod in cyl #1 and that the piston was actually tapping the crank at BDC, soooo lucky that the engine didnt blow all the way up.
Finished and started the engine Sep 29th. Runs GREAT! There's a lot of pics and a couple vids to check out on here as well as good info on FS-DET engines.
Also did a Ground Control suspension install on page 8 as well as turbo clock and Mishimoto radiator/fan shroud kit install that was finished up on 9 Nov 2012. That starts towards the bottom of page 13.
Diff broke on 12 Dec 2013 replaced with an MFactory Helical LSD. Back on the road as of 27 Feb 2014! Info starts at the bottom of page 15
