Yup I was also a victim of zoom zoom BOOM, well almost. Started to get this horrible click down in the engine after the wastegate actuator failed. Took it down to the nearest Mazda dealer and they quoted me a referb engine at like $7000. So this is my build that I started on July 1st 2011. The engine was brought to the machine shop on Jul 6th 2011, and picked up Sep 15th 2011. Turns out the old engine had a bent connecting rod in cyl #1 and that the piston was actually tapping the crank at BDC, soooo lucky that the engine didnt blow all the way up.

Finished and started the engine Sep 29th. Runs GREAT! There's a lot of pics and a couple vids to check out on here as well as good info on FS-DET engines.

Also did a Ground Control suspension install on page 8 as well as turbo clock and Mishimoto radiator/fan shroud kit install that was finished up on 9 Nov 2012. That starts towards the bottom of page 13.

Diff broke on 12 Dec 2013 replaced with an MFactory Helical LSD. Back on the road as of 27 Feb 2014! Info starts at the bottom of page 15

hey all the best on your build im thinkin also bout doin an engine swap currently runnin 1.6 dohc im think bout klze 2.5 or Fs 2.0

I dont know much about KLZE but I've got FS down. Super easy except finding a tuning solution. And FS is native to Protege so a swap would be easy.

hey so wat does that ceramic coat really do if u dont mind telling me? an sorry for thread jacking just thinking of doin my header an then wraping it...
 
Nice build, I hope you get it back together soon. What box says 'death to the diaphragm' on it? Is that for the HKS or something?

No the box is a Synapse Engineering Synchronic BOV. It's a pulltype with o-rings instead of a diaphragm, supposed to be faster opening. I had the flange welded on the Corksport FMIC

And yes that is my Delorean

Ceramic coating helps reduce under hood temps and helps prevent rust

I dont know if I will ceramic coat the DP, I'll probably wrap it with the stuff I have left over
