I'm looking to get an aftermarket remote start installed on my 07 CX7 and know that I will have to get more than my lone switchblade key/fob.
I was given the impression that I could buy mazda keys, without the remote, but have the chip in them to work in the ignition. I bought two online from a company that sells keys of all sorts for all cars. I obviously wanted the cheaper route but also didn't want to have an aftermarket fob attached to a switchblade style key.
so, I've taken these keys to a local dealer and am told that I can only go with the switchblade style keys because that is all that is listed in their computer system.
the concept of chips in a key isn't rocket science, they just have to be compatible.
Has anyone done this before with success? I know there has to be someone out there!! you guys with alarms and remote starters aren't seriously walking around with a pocket full of key fobs are you!?
any help would be great, thanks!!
