Lovmyrx7, got any pics of the back of the engine so I can see the exhaust manifold configuration? Also, do the auto and manual transmissions have different ring and pinion gears with different ratios? If so, I wonder if they interchange?

since there are no push rods, i assumed that the con rods are the only rods in the engine. ;)

Quick question, is the U.S. 1.5 an interference engine? I know it shouldn't be an issue since it has a timing chain instead of a belt but I'm curious.

My understanding is that it's more likely an engine is an interference if it *does* have a timing chain...if having the timing go off can cause your engine to blow up, you'd want to use the most reliable linkage possible.
 
It's a safe assumption that it is an interference engine. Just about any engine made these days will destroy valves if the cams are far enough off.

I'm curious about your curiosity.
