Weird "ping" sound on braking?

Hi all,

I've got a 2007 mazda3 and I'm hearing a metallic ping sound whenever I use the brakes, it sounds like a cable tensioning or rubbing against something to me.

I searched around a little and didn't find anything on the forums but I'm wondering if this is common (and not an issue) or if I should get it fixed before my warranty runs out. Any ideas?

I would definitely get it looked at before the warranty expires.

Still in warranty == take no chances; take it in

Mine made that sound exactly twice, both on the same trip, about 5 minutes apart, about 1 month after we got it. Took it in and they couldn't find what did it, but they said it was probably a pebble stuck between the caliper and the shield.

YMMV.
