I had to call the AA out to start my car after a flooding, and ever since, I have noticed a 'flashing key' type light on the dashboard when the car isn't running.

Normal. As long as the car starts, you imobilizer system (flashing key) is working.

No, you will be fine. It flashes as a deterrent to let would be thieves know that the car is equiped with a security system.
