What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

I don't think 15's fit. 16's seem to barely fit over the calipers. He said 215/50/15, which would be way off size wise. I think he meant 215/50/17, since they replaced the toyos.

Also, my 5's radio decided to freeze again today. I was stuck on radio. It had been a while, and it is out of warranty now, so oh well. Got home, shut it off, and started again and all is well.

not so much what I have done to my M5 today, but what the road has done. my wife caught a big honkin' nail in one of my continental DWS's! fortunately I bought road hazard coverage and it's getting taken care of today.
they also said my front brakes are due (just over 30K miles) but no way I'll have a tire shop do it when I can do it myself for less than $30.

My car has been in the shop for two weeks. I got into an accident in the end of may with my Mazda5, but possibly this Saturday or Next week I will have my MZ5 back! Everything will be fresh, I got new wheels ready to go too.

Just a couple of minor things. Put in my WeatherTech floorliners, and installed an eBay-sourced gas-cartridge hood lift kit: no more prop-rod during servicing!

Would like to hear more about your gas struts for the hood, would like to do that to mine, and the Weather Tech is on the "to do" list before winter. Did the gas struts come with directions, or is it obvious where to mount them once you get a look at them?

I have the above mentioned Kuhmo Ecsta XL Platinums, 225/45/R18 and I love them! Previous tires were 225/40R18 so I added a bit of height/meat to the tire, but regardless... these tires are the cats meow!

Super quiet, excellent dry grip, very good wet grip, and oh yeah.. super quiet! I have a separate set of wintertime studless snows.
michael.

Got a used set of OEM racks and Thule flat top carrier. Makes the car look a little funny but this is a utilitarian machine, not a garage queen.

-----------

The struts came with instructions, fairly generalized, but it wasn't difficult once I had the hood open and eyeballed things a bit. The kit used four existing bolt holes to hold the small brackets, and the cartridge struts snap onto those. 20-30 minutes tops.

Can you post pics of the mounting points (hood and fender)? Once closed, does the strut/damper bodies lie on top of the fender mounting points or does it lie next to it ‘in’ the engine bay?

Would like to see if there's space and a strong mounting point to use a rivenut and avoid having to use the bracket. Looking for a more seamless/integrated install.

Last weekend, I drove the 5 from here in NoVA to near Wilmington DE for a HUGE car show at Hagley, the DuPont family manor. There were something like 500 classic cars there. It was awesome.

For the drive, my wife and I were up front, my parents in the second row, and my son in the third, with the luggage next to and behind him. We were all happy and comfortable for the whole ride up and back. The 5 did 80mph all the way up and back nicely, and even at that speed with 4 and 2/3 people inside, we got 25mpg on that tank of gas.

I'm really rather fond of this little vanlet. It's so versatile.

Oil/filter, however, I replaced the front belly pan clips with these from Napa. Perfect fit, M6 like stock, and they lock in place very well. $5 for 6 Now, instead of having 5 bolts holding it on, I have all 9 and no problems removing them either.

had the honor & pleasure of changing the low beam bulbs in the 5 today when I noticed one had burnt out. I have a Mz3 so I knew what was involved, still not fun. It took an hour to get the PS clip back on the bulb correctly, and the DS clip when on correctly the 2nd attempt. Go figure. Finger tips will be sore for a few days, woopee.
