I'm not able to lock my car with the remote keypad anymore. Do I just buy a new one off of Ebay to replace it, or do I need to take into the local Mazda dealer and get it replaced?

Take it to the "stealer", they should be able to open it up and replace the battery for free.

I say open it up & replace your own battery. If broke then yes, score off ebay & hit online service manual stickied upinheeya somewhere to program it. Simple stuff. When is anything free at a dealer that isn't warranty or recall?
But check first - the fuse for the radio/clock controls the remote system as well.
Then swap the battery in the 'mote.
(and if that doesn't get it)
Buy a 'mote off the 'net (search). it wil come with directions (as long as you still have one working).
