Wheel bearing?

Hello all,

I have a problem and i'm not too sure what the cause is.
So when i'm driving (at any speed) there is a sound coming from my car, kind of a whoosh whoosh sound? also sounds like two pieces of metal rubbing faintly. But when i step on the brakes it disappears.

The steering wheel doesn't shake, or pull to the side. When i let go of the wheel the car goes straight. The pads and rotors were put in maybe 800km ago. I had the car jacked up and the driver's side wheel wobbles a little bit when i grab it by top and bottom.

Is this telling me its the wheel bearings? or is this something else?
If it's the bearings, are they easy to change?

Thanks

Like when it is up on stands, the wheel moves(like not spins), but back and forth?

That is what I had, turned out to be the Hub Assembly that had to be replaced.

yes when it's jacked up.

how did you figure it was hub assembly and not the bearings?
how much did it cost you to get fixed?

Does the sound change when you steer left or right?

I just experienced the same thing. Rubbing sound from the front, increased as speed of car increased, got softer if I turned left, louder if I turned right, and the tread on my driver side tire went bye-bye on the outer edge.

After checking brakes, wheel balance, and all the other "little" stuff, took it to dealer. Was a bad driver side wheel bearing, cost $396 to fix :(

On the bright side, car is now quiet again.

mmmm now that you mention it i'm not too sure.
I'll have to go check.

Wow thats expensive. I wonder if this can be done yourself?
