have you thought about putting a KA engine in there? the aftermarket support is about the same, but you get more torque out of the KA than the SR or are you worried about response?

Love really does hurt. I have a bruised right hand, a cut-infected left index finger and a cut-infected left forearm and sensitive fingers from the juices I used. You even put me in heart attack mode when you wouldnt let go of my tool, but you know what? I still have love for you, My Little Mazda3.
You dirty minds, what were you thinking when you read this?
My ride, my ride, she don't fake, steal, cheat or lie. My ride, my ride, and our relationship is classified
do you mean response as in throttle response? because I am sure a KA could be tuned either way. The SR20 will make more power out of the box and even more with fewer mods than a KA would need.
I also have a source for either that keeps the costs down to a minimum. Probably just shipping, since he deals internationally and is a good friend from way back.
But as for now, I am enjoying the L18. Mileage kinda sucks, and its not that fast, but it is reliable.
I will get the long block and tranny and all that for the swap, but wont do it until all the suspension and brake mods I have in mind are done. It seems to be much safer that way.
Anyone got a B210 Brake booster?

My classic Japanese ride... Its all about the Datsun right now.
Traded: 02.5 Protege ES REPPIN 22v paint, the fastest paint in the west!
Now: 09 Mazda5 Touring in stormy blue.
are you apart of a nissan forum? they'll find you parts SUPER quick. The KA engine doesnt have as quick of a response as a SR, but in my opinion, it'll be alot more fun than the SR. It also depends on the type of SR you got, i think the redtops tubro wont be able to handle that much of an enhancement, but the blacktops would. i could be wrong, i dont like my engines being the same size or smaller than a bottle of pepsi so i dont pay attention to them

I am on the510realm.com and te SR20 Swap Yahoo group, so far i have gotten some good insight, and yeah I am waiting for an s14a or an s15 with a 6 speed.
I have not written the KA off yet, just still feeling the water a bit before I make and decisions in stone. It seems all the 510's in the bay area have a KA, and I want something more rare and different. Besides I Like me some BOV noise.

i hear that, i didnt know the 510 had such roots in the bay, but then again i've been living in a box and went straight to work when im not hermiting for about 3 years. You can turbo the KA, but thats where the response diff. is really noticable. the KA has about as much aftermarket support as the SR now rather than a year or so ago

Yeah I have been thinking today about saving the headaches and just going with an all motor KA with E-Prom'ing and the works, would be a LOT cheaper.

dude im just toying with you man, if you really want an SR then go for it, i just want you to keep your options open. neither motor is better than the other, but research it a little more and see whats up. write down what you want in a motor and attach it to what you want, if one motor has more attachments then get that motor

sr20 is def a better motor for boost - flows better, sturdier materials. and its the lighter of the motors. and its not from a truck![]()
wrong, both motors hold boost up to 8psi on stock internals easily. granted the Sr does come with materials made to handle boost, it still isnt better than the KA for boost as with any motor...i've known many people with a 240, they go through SR's like nothing same thing with KA's. I'd still take a truck engine over a SR any day, its cheaper and at least you know its in better shape then a damn SR. SR's from japan have been beaten to shit. People saying its because of smog WRONG!

oh and we might as well stop this argument here and now, it'll never end. we learned about that in my other forum and just decided to make fun of everyone who starts it up

I got the Hookup of hookups today, A 200SX 5 speed "Dogleg" tranny It bolts right in, and should be in by the end of the week. Along with it I got a long tube header, that I will be cleaning up to wrap in thermal tape and get a new 2" or 2 1/4" exhaust all the way back.... I got the tranny in great shape and the header for a super steal of $300. Yay for better performance and Mileage!
BTW, drove `240 miles today, got about 24-25 MPG on 4th gear (75 mph is about 4000 RPM. the car has the automatic rear end with 3.90 gears.)
