November 22 is launch date. I also ordered the 399 one.
I'm waiting for the games to come out - I already own just about everything, and I know eventually I will buy them all.
Ahh, who am I kidding, I'm probably going to go pre-order the $799 package at EB next week.
I'm most looking forward to the next Nintendo, which likely could be the last nintendo console. I currently own PS2 (modded), two X-box (both modded), dreamcast (no need to mod - plays burned cdr's) and gamecube. The only system I'm against modding is Nintendo's - I don't mind giving them my money.
The worst part is that I work so much, I hardly have time for video games. Still, they are good for a rainy day or when I have nieces/nephews over.

i thought about it... but with a ridiculous pricetag (they're making you buy a bundle that may or may not include games you actually want) I don't find it makes much sense. sure, you can opt for the "bargain" version but then you're not getting the hardrive (which I hear will cost $100) If you're converting from PS2, I suppose that's not a big deal. For me, I'm used to my HD on my Xbox so it would be like taking a step backwards. $500 for a gaming system that, in my mind, will be subpar at best when comparred to the behemoth known as the PS3 just doesn't make any sense. and I'm a huge xbox fan so it pains me to say this.
all you really have to know is.... PS3: blue ray (high def movies, 20gb storage for games, etc.) X360: same dvd technology found in current gen consoles. Even if the PS3 does end up costing $200 more (which I doubt), since you wouldn't have to buy a new dvd player to support HD it's totally worth it. needless to say, if you can't afford 2 systems, wait till next spring for the PS3.
And for those of you just waiting for Gran Turismo on PS3? See you in 2007.

dude... have you seen nintendo's new controller? if not, check it out at gamespot.com the editors seem to like it but I can't understand why. it's as minimalist as they come. this could appeal to the most casual gamer (like our parents or something) but what about us? in my mind, xbox's new controller is the best of the bunch. nintendo's num-chucks are just plain weird.
at best!! remember how long it took for 4 to come out!! even still, this is sony we're talking about. as much as I hate to admit it, they own this industry. even still, i think MS has a pretty interesting take on the online play that can't be overlooked.
I thought PS2's dual shock was the best.
