It is rubbing. The only think i can think of id that your offset is lower than +45 and/or since you have 50 series on the 7.5'' wheel, its causing the sidewall to be bulgy vs the sidewall on mine which is stretched a little.

Got my wheels

Finally,
After owning my MS3 for 2.5 years I have started doing some mods. I have been following this forum and building a wish list since I bought the car. I am now the proud owner of a set of Rota G-Force 18x8.5 in Hyperblack with a set of Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 225/40/W18 tires! Oh I love it so! The tires were an instant improvement over my stockers with 34k on them (no I don't launch it at every light). And I really love the agressive look it gives the car. I have absolutely no rubbing on rough roads hear in Hawaii. I do have considerable gaps and am now thinking of a set of springs with minimum drop, sway bars, and the Koni FDS shocks eveyone talks about. That will have to wait until we recover from the Xmas crunch of course. Anyways thanks for everyones help and to Zoeb@wheeldude. I ordered my wheels on Monday and recieved them on Thursday, not bad for Hawaii, and shows quick action.

Can anyone tell me, will an 8 inch wide wheel fit the stock 215 mm tires or will I need wider tires?

You're very welcome and if there's anything else I can help you with just let me know :)

Karlton

Karlton you must be the new Subydude for the Mazda forums that Dan mentioned.

I bet there would be a huge interest on18x8.5 Rota Gravels in gold or Gunmetal for the MS3....

Yup, Karlton will be taking my place here on the Mazda forum while I concentrate on growing the Linea Corse side of the company.

He'll be posting up a lot more threads on here and you'll see him here pretty actively, if you guys have any questions feel free to PM him.

I can still be reached by email at sales@wheeldude.com if you've dealt with me in the past.

Zoeb

Awesome. Karlton, prepared to be bombarded by thousands of, "will/can/which/what will fit" questions. If I had a dime for every time I've posted or PMed Subydude/wheeldude on NASIOC alone, I'd would probably have enough to get every single Rota model made by now.

pulled the quarters more and re-installed Evo X's. 18x8.5 +38, 235/40's

eek not on a 7" wheel. it will look like a fat chick's ankle wearing pumps. That profile is wayyyy to tall also. Use a tire size calculator and see how farr off in diameter you would be with those. With 255's, you need a 35 series....and an 8" minimum wheel

yes, you will rub a lot, im not even sure if rolling fenders will help you out but u can always try it
if i were u i would drop it first or get tires and springs/coil overs together

i was rubbing with 225, had to roll my fenders

well thats a different story, you probably will be ok with that set up, if not u can always roll ur fenders

i personally dont like the hole spacer idea, if u gonna do it might as well do it right get some nice aftermarket wheels
