Replacement Tires for 2009 Mazda 5 GT

I love the Yokohama S-Drives, and the envigor is a slightly more durable option (although I have not had them on my 5). I just installed a set of Bridgestone RE 760s from Pneus Lavoie on ours after 4 summers on the stock Toyos. Really happy after almost 8000 km. We run snow tires on ours, so...

What interesting place have you Driven with the Mazda5?

So far, we have done a few trips in the last 4 years. Kingston, Ontario to Darrien Lake to Niagara Falls, and back. Kingston, Ontario to Tampa, Fl, to New Orleans, LA and back to Kingston (totally memorable), and again this year from Kingston, On to Miami, FL and back. If all goes well, the...

Yet another rear shock blowout story... + Konis = Happy ending.

I had my left rear shock blow out somewhere around 30,000 km on my '09. It was replaced without drama under warranty. A couple of months ago, I noticed similar oil spotting on the same spot on the driveway. Sure enough, the left rear was gone again. Sitting with over 85,000 km and over 4 years...

    Towing with 2007 Mazda 5

The recommended trailer lighting converter box only uses the wiring for the tail lights as a signal. The power wire for the trailer light converter box goes straight to the battery. I have seen many Mazda 5s wired with regular converter boxes, and no problems. I have an older utility trailer...

    Power Steering failure!

Bann me if you feel that way mod. My original post was on topic. And work on your "unbiased moderator" skills... penis is not a curse word. Scan up and you will find one - not posted by me.

    Power Steering failure!

Yawn... I think there is only one poster on here that doesn't always read, or comprehend other peoples posts... Put your * ruler away degree(s) boy. I am guessing you figure you are the only one on here with multiple degrees. Bottom line is my Mazda 5 at that age and milage (6 years/115,000...

    Power Steering failure!

Not really... Extended warranties are not that expensive, and just like any insurance policy (which is what they are - mechanical insurance), there is no guanantee that you will use it in the time you own the car. Some extended warranties are now paying owners back if they never make a claim...

    Power Steering failure!

That's why we spent the extra $$$ for the extended warranty. We are still making payments on ours, and the last thing we need is a hit like that. As much as we love ours, it will be sold with about 1 year/50,000km of the transferrable extended warranty remaining. At this stage, I can't see...

'09 Power steering leaking again after recall (trip #3...).

Busy summer... Snapped this pic back at the end of July on my pre-trip oil change. I wiped the PS fluid off the hose just before I took the picture HOPING it was from before the new clamp was installed (because, of course, cleaning the mess off the bottom & splash shield would never be...

2006 M5 stalling out after jump start

Wrong - many DBW vehicles require this.

    Wiring harness under cupholder??

I believe the seat heater switches are around there (only available on leather seat models).

    wipers

+1 on the '09 rain sensing wipers being the worst feature on our GT. I have tried all the +/- sensitivity settings in various weather conditions, and found little to no difference. I told my wife the day we drove ours home to avoid using it. I have seen too many wiper motors & wiper...

    2009 Mazda5 Taillamp Removal

Ah, sorry, I missed that. The screws for the side panels are under square caps just under the side widows, and if I remember correctly the cargo tie hooks hold them in place. Once you have them out, the other clips just pop off.

    2009 Mazda5 Taillamp Removal

There are 2 bolt covers on the inside edges of the tail lights (seen only with the hatch open). Pop those off carefully with a small flat blade screwdriver, and you will expose the bolts that secure the tail lights. After removing the bolts, carefully wiggle and pry the tail lights from the...

'09 Power steering leaking again after recall (trip #3...).

Looks like their solution was a 50 cent gear-type hose clamp. If it leaks again I will lose it. I will snap a pic when it is up in the air. They double clamped it, and left the original compression clamp on there. It's mostly a piss off since there are more oil stains on my new driveway from...

'09 Power steering leaking again after recall (trip #3...).

Yup! The upper section of that hose & the clamp at the resevoir are bone dry. It is only at the clamp you see in the picture. I have a pic of the previous leak - it is identical. Oh, as as for this stuff driving me nuts - absolutely.

'09 Power steering leaking again after recall (trip #3...).

Different spot. If they shave nipples the way they separate hoses, there could be other problems down the road, but it doesn't appear that way. This is a simple low pressure rubber to metal connection on the return line. The hard (metal) return line follows the inside of the right front frame...

'09 Power steering leaking again after recall (trip #3...).

Did my March oil change today, and once again the splash shield is soaked in power steering fluid. Same hose that started leaking after the recall was performed. I took it in for reinspection, part not in stock, so brought in again to install a new hose. I suspect they put a gouge in the hard...
