Ya i tried to jumper switch but it didnt work

so attempted to get it working by bypassing the dimmer switch but it still didn't work. that pretty much rules out the switch being faulty

I was going to try and splice the turn on and illumination wire to a powered wire. any suggestions on which the best way is?

thanks for the reply. the new headunit I did have to splice and the harness for the new stereo does not have the illum wire. the gauge lights do not work without a head unit even installed. I find it hard that it was intentionally designed to be powered from the headunit. if this is the case...

I've noticed the thread has been viewed 50 times with zero response. I am thinking that it is not an issue that happens like ever to anyone, which is always my luck? anyone atleast know the power source?

So as the title states my gauge lights and center stack lights for HVAC controls are not working. ive tried adjusting the knob with no results and I checked every freaking fuse in the car. Can someone please shed some light (pun intended) on this for me? I decided that this additional info...

Im sure there are multiple ways to test things in this situation but you might want to try for testing purposes only connecting RR and RL to FR and FL to see if you are getting sound to the rear speakers, if you are getting sound than I would say its possibly a problem with the head unit

just need to ask this.... Is this swap purely out of functionality of getting it back on the road for the least amount of money?

Im guessing so, it was not the only lite the battery was lit no doubt, abs, AC would sort of flicker. The only logical thought I had is as the car was basically dying, the alt could not provide all the required power for all accesories or equipment

As I suspected, bad alternator. Everything is all good now, minus some broken ******* fingers.

Right but by pulling off the positive with motor running takes the battery out of the equation.
