    Alternator belt

Yea, I'm having the same issue too. Both my alternator belt and water pump belt broke while I was driving and I had to get them replaced. It squeals once the engine dips below 1000 rpm and goes away once it goes over 2000. I took it to a shop to have it tightened but now it's back again. Does...

    60,000 Mile service

It's about that time when my P5 odometer rolls over 60,000 I scheduled a maintenance with the dealer for the 60k service, but I was wondering if anybody has had it and is it worth having? $600 seems awful steep for a check up.... I'm religious about changing my oil and aside from a weird...

    Rear squeaking WHILE turning

I was looking on the forums and I saw a lot of entries on the rear squeaking and it being related to the bushings, but I wasn't sure it it applies with mine since it's my rear passenger that squeaks whenever I make a right hand turn around 30mph. And it sounds like a rotational squeak as...

    Your favorite stretch of road?

There are back roads in blacksburg VA (virginia tech) that are a whole lot of fun to drive on. Straight roads aren't as fun for me....it feels like driving on a highway. You need the sheer terror of taking a turn and wondering if you took it too fast.

    Howto: Rear Pad (disc) Replacement

Naw, the lock bolt is supposed to be the bolt that allows the whole assembly to swing out. If you check the service manual, it's listed as a part to remove during replacement of the rear pads. I just don't know what to do about that plastic covering as I'd rather not go about breaking things =\

    Howto: Rear Pad (disc) Replacement

To those of us that are trying to follow the service manual's instructions, Just making sure, but the lock bolt that's described is hidden behind a piece of plastic right? Do I just yank that plastic cover straight off? Top notch write up otherwise!!!!

    Terrifying squeaky wheels

A month or two ago I recently got my front brake shoes replaced, and they were making some minor squeaks so I knew the had to be broken in. Lately, I've heard some major squeaking coming from when I apply light brake pressure, and especially when I make a turn, or if I'm reversing at a low...

    Need Help Removing Stock Stereo!!!

Actually, I know how to remove my stereo because I've done it before. I have the set of removal tools, and I got the right hand side loose, but I think I messed the left hand side up somehow. When I push in the tools on the left side's holes, they sorta sink in all the way into the unit...

The milage is also a matter of not only the engine, but maybe drive train, and everything else that's connected to the engine.

    stock radio electrical details?

Does anybody know the voltage and current going into the stereo? I know there's a 12V line. Basically I'm trying to take the logitech bluetooth headphones for an iPod and integrate it into the stock stereo system so I don't have to even connect a cable. It's similar to the original mod where...

    Spot the engine

Hey guys, this isn't exactly a P5 related thread. But read this to the end to see how it is P5 related...sorta I've been named a finalist in a motorola competition, and I need votes to win a scholarship for school. If you go to http://promo.motorola.com/motofwrd/us/finalist.html and go down...

    engine turned itself off!!

I've got a 2002 P5, stock (sadly) with maybe 35k on it. I've been pretty good with maintenance with oil and fluids and what not. So today, I was in traffic, not moving, and the engine just turns itself off. Electrical systems were working fine. But the engine for no reason decided to just...

    automatic transmission

I got my P5 this past winter and I love it to death. The one thing though is that it's an automatic with the manumatic shifter. I told my friend that I wanted to add a turbocharger to it eventually but he warned me that the transmission may not hold up under the increased power from the...

    backpressure=bad?

I've googled this and asked other people before, but I could never get a straight answer on this. Is back pressure necessary in an engine? More over, what if I forcefully removed the exaust from the engine with say a vaccum or something like that?

    general audio signal question

This has been talked about elsewhere but for those who don't know about it, I basically followed the instructions here http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4287200503&idx=0 what you do is open up the CD player component, remove the CD drive to get to the underlying circuit board...
