the shifter slipped down, that's when is it shifts weird, seems like it barely goes into gear. When I pull it up, it shifts normally, but i can pull it up a little more. I'll have to take a better look at it to find out what the problem is. thanks all for your help

thanks for replying. Liquid, yes, that sounds like my problem. I am able to pull it up, and it shifts fine, but still seems like it tries to fall back down. Antoine, I'll see if that solution will work, but I don't know when I will have a chance to look at it, if there is another solution...

My 94 protege is now starting to have this same problem, when i looked under the car, the shifter was below the bushing. Is the bushing the only thing that need to be replaced? And is it difficult to replace?

Is it easy to replace, what tools do I need?
