    CX-5 Rear Shock Mount Compatibility?

Success!! I managed to change the brackets without taking the shocks out. Some of the nuts were iffy and getting the bolt on top of the shock took a while, but technically not too challenging. For the record, my CX5 is an early 2012 build (I picked it up in June of 2012).

    CX-5 Rear Shock Mount Compatibility?

Just ordered the CX-3 mounts (DA6A-28-380) hoping to get away with replacing them just by compressing the shock without removing.

    CX-5 Rear Shock Mount Compatibility?

Don’t scare me. I just spent hours and hours replacing the rear end links which were rusted beyond belief. In the end needed to get a Sawzall to chop off the end. Dealer wants $1380+tax (so ~$1560 all in) to replace both rear shocks - that includes parts and labour. Guess I’ll be buying a new...

    CX-5 Rear Shock Mount Compatibility?

Thanks for the reply. Might as well go with the US supplier for the shock as the dealer here in Canada wants an equivalent of $290USD per shock, which is why I was thinking of going the mount-only approach. The original shocks seem pretty good still as I only have about 80k miles (130k Km) and...

    CX-5 Rear Shock Mount Compatibility?

Has anybody tried the KYB SM5890 rear shock mount? It’s says that they are compatible with 2013-2018 CX5s. I know there was a change for the Gen1s, so not sure about the fitment. https://www.thewrenchmonkey.ca/products/auto-parts/kyb/sm5890/ I have an early build from 2012 and my mounts are...

    Liftgate won't open whe cold

Thanks for the replies. It's not the struts or seals...it's just that it stays locked. In general, I never have trouble opening/unlocking the liftgate in warm weather. The trouble only starts in cold (freezing?) Temps. For the next few days it will be a bit warmer here so probably won't have any...

    Liftgate won't open whe cold

Just like the title says, my liftgate doen't open when the temperature drops below freezing. Anybody else ever have this issue? I looked at the mechanism and nothing obvious so I'll probably have to take it to the dealer.

Oil consumption, dirty exhaust and an answer from a Mazda mechanic

I'm pretty sure he meant that your downshifting isn't aggressive enough - which it isn't. It's not like you're routinely revving to +4K on downshifts. Any time you have the throttle closed and are above idle you'll have high vacuum which might cause increased oil consumption. Downshifting...

Oil consumption, dirty exhaust and an answer from a Mazda mechanic

The other week I changed the oil my self for the first time; the first two were done at the dealer. When I drained the oil, it was about 4.0L, the manual says 4.2L with an oil filter change. I'm not in the habit of checking the oil level on a new car, so I don't know if it changed much since the...

    Infant car seat not fitting

Anybody have problems getting the car's seat belts to stay locked (i.e., can not pull more of the belt out) when used to attach a children's seat? Since I have two car seats side-by-side, I'm not supposed to use the same LATCH hook for two seats so I have to use the car's seat belts for the...

    Suggestions on winter tires

I also got Goodyear tires, but the "Canadian Tire" version called "Nordic Winter". They were on special for about $140 so I figured that was a pretty good deal.
